I also was advised that different skills are encouraged at different ages, and that the first thing kids want to do is Running with the Ball, and this is what they should do, because they want to do this lots. Rather this than telling them to pass too early, and maybe curb their enjoyment. Any thoughts?
I recently discussed with a prominent coach when players should begin to settle in one position. He answered that not until mid teens, adding that players should have opportunities to play in all positions and across all left , right and central. Any thoughts? It is the beginning of the season and that is always an exciting time. It is a time when we have lots of hopes. Personally I can't wait to get started coaching with a team, and do the best I can to help my players enjoy themselves and really improve their soccer skills. I look forward to seeing the young players get started into the season, there is nothing like game day, not only for the matches, but the families connecting, and often meeting up afterwards for a coffee, and catch up . I look forward to seeing all of the fun times to come. I look forward to meeting the old familar faces, and the not so familiar faces. I look forward to seeing how are new website is received. Lots to look forward to even the odd drama, that's soccer, it has its ups and downs.
It seems an age since the end of the last season, but in someways for some members of the club, there has been little let up, applying for funding and planning for the new season. The hard work will have been worth it, the club has a little more funding this season, and it will be nice to see how that translates into more equipment and playing strips for the club. There is a change to the new playing kit, and from what I can see it is pretty smart, I hope others like it too. |
